Onion Hoe
It can also be used for making short seed drills (seed trenches)
The important difference between this hoe and others is that it is sharpened on the sides as well as on the bottom edge. In this way, it slices through the ground close to plants. The advantage of this is that you can weed very close to your crop - the disadvantage is that you can just as easily weed out your crop if you're not careful.
How Do You Use This Hoe
The whole idea of this hoe is to get you close to your plants so you can see exactly what you are doing and thereby avoiding damage to any of your prize vegetables and blooms. It comes as a long-handled as well as a short-handled tool so it can be ideal if you like to work from your knees.
For general weeding and breaking compacted soil surfaces pull the hoe towards you with the blade just cutting under the surface of the soil. Don't try and work to far in front of you, this puts unecessary strain on your back and other parts of your body. So stand up and move forward, kneeling down again, to do more.
Pull the hoe towards you to the end of the seed drill maintaining the required depth.
