Hand Fork
Small digging and cultivating chores without having to drag large tools around are its strong point
Construction:
The head and neck should be forged in one piece for maximum strength. The tang (pointed part of the steel) should be inserted into a solid handle.
While I personally prefer wooden handled tools, this particular tool comes in a wide variety of materials and cost-points.
What is clear to me though after 30 years in the nursery trade is because you’re going to be lifting and prying with this tool (yeah, you’ll try to move rocks with it - trust me on this one) the cheaper tools just don’t last very long. You’ll wind up bending them (or you’re a lot more careful with your tools than I am)
Why Use A Hand Fork
It is ideal for thinning out and transplanting seedlings in vegetable plots. It is also used for general gardening and cultivation - particularly in confined areas where a larger tool such as a hoe would not easily fit.
